Adding Google Analytics to your WordPress website

Google Analytics is a free service that tracks your website visitors and some of their behavior. When you add Google Analytics to your site with your unique Site ID from Google, they are able to track the traffic, then you can see it at their website at google.com/analytics

Step 1: Get your SiteID from Google Analytics (You will need to sign up for a free account and follow their instructions)

Step 2: In your Site Admin tool, click “Google Analytics” under the “Tools” menu heading

Step 3: Enter your site code into the box and click “Update Options”

Adding an Image Gallery

A gallery of images is a great way to add some character and content to a page or blog post. A gallery can even be displayed as a slideshow included into a page, post, or even as a sidebar widget. Follow the instructions below to include a gallery or slideshow in a blog post.

Step 1: The Gallery must be created, and have some images added to it before you can insert one into a post or a page.

Step 2: Enter a name for your Gallery and click “Add Gallery”

Step 3: Now that the Gallery has been created, we can add images. Click “Browse” and select the images that you want included, choose the Gallery they are going to, and click “Upload images”

Step 4: Your Gallery can be inserted into a blog post or a page using the NextGen Gallery button

Step 5: Choose which gallery to insert, and how to display it. You can have the images in a list, or a slideshow.

Adding a YouTube video to a blog post

YouTube is the internet gold standard for free easy video sharing. Add some depth or perspective to your blog post content by posting a relevant video to share, whether it is one that you found or one that you created and uploaded to YouTube yourself.

Step 1. Locate the video that you want embedded into your blog post, and copy the “Embed” code.

When you click on the Embed code, several options appear below it. Use these options to make the video smaller or larger. A video that takes up too much space on your page and interferes with the sidebar may need to be shrank. Remember that anytime you change an option on YouTube, the embed code is brand new and has to be changed.

Step 2. Edit the blog post that you would like to include the video in. Click the “HTML” tab, and paste the embed code that you copied from Youtube

Step 3. Publish your post, and test to make sure that the video is working.

Creating an Image Link

Any image in your IDX Blogger site can be set to be a clickable link. When a visitor to your site clicks on the image, they will be taken to the site that you designated.

Step 1: Find an image to be your link, or take a screenshot to create the image you wish to use.

This is a photo that I want to add to my blog post.

Step 2. Add the image to your blog post using the “Upload Photo” button above your content editing window

Step 3: Click “Select Files” and select an image from your computer. It will be uploaded into your website and the properties will come up.

Step 3. In the image properties, highlight and replace the “Link URL” with the web address you want to link the image to

Step 5. Complete your post content, and then click the “Publish” button on the right hand side.

Step 6. Visit your new blog post and click the image to test your link.

When viewed on your website as a visitor would see it, you can click on the image to be taken to the website that was entered.

Step 7. The web address that I entered worked, and by clicking on the image my visitors will be directed to the link.

Search Criteria in the Looking Glass

While in HomeQuest Looking Glass, you can filter out the homes on the map to only those that have certain features. This way you can hide the homes on the map that are not relevant to your search. Want to look at only 3 bedroom condos? You can do that using the search built right into your Looking Glass.

Using Search Criteria in Looking Glass:

Click “Search Criteria” and enter your search options including price, beds and baths, square footage, year, and type of home. Once you have filled out the search options, click “Save and Reload” to apply this search to the map. Remember, once you have search filters set on the map, they remain there until the “Reset” button is clicked

Commenting is now available

All WordPress hosted sites with HomeQuest now have commenting capabilities turned on. That means that clients can now interact with your blog posts. Now your blog is not just a one way form of communication, but an actual community where users can respond to your blog posts and each others comments. Having an engaged community brings benefit within the search engine rankings as well.
